BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The man behind the OP 10.33 project is calling city blogger Robert Wightman-Cervantes an out-and-out liar, this after Wightman insisted he’d been offered money to back certain candidates the innovative organization was endorsing earlier this year. Mike Hernandez, III says it never happened.

It’s only the latest broadside felt by a reeling Wightman-Cervantes whose blog has been the essence of a dim bulb for weeks.

This arrived via Email this morning, from Hernandez, the bearded man in the photo above standing alongside the wheelchair-bound governor of Texas, after we’d asked if he’d tried to strike a pro-publicity deal with the erratic Wightman:

To Duardo Paz-Martinez Today at 10:43 AM
That is a complete falsehood. I spoke with him in the phone during the Port elections and all of a sudden he literally goes off crying about his dying veteran brother and how he could not afford his cancer treatments. After literally 10 minutes I simply asked him, “how much does he need to stay alive?” which I assumed was the reason for his conduct. Then he flips a switch the next day and posts that I was trying to pay him off to endorse a candidate, which never came out of my mouth. That’s when I texted him that I would not deal with him anymore and I haven’t. When he saw that I was talking to you, he then contacted (Jose Angel) Gutierrez in an attempt to get back in contact with me. That is not going to happen.

Thanks again.

Mike

It’s uncanny how almost everything blogger Wightman does turns to crap. It’s like he has the Midas Touch in reverse. The Avenger is after the truth on everything we chase. Wightman is just a joke anymore, so we likely will not expend any more time on his Romper Room shenanigans.

And we can also say that we are about done with his playpen blogging mate Jim Barton, another local who just can’t seem to grasp the concept of good and bad in political candidates or the idea of progress for a community. These guys are the poster boys for that well-known condemnation of the press by former Vice-President Spiro Agnew, who called some reporters hounding then-President Richard M. Nixon “nattering nabobs of negativism.”

Wightman is a zero as a reporter, and he is of the negative variety as a blogger.

Barton is a rank amateur at news, a guy who did his best work as an employee of Glen’s Supermarket over on Boca Chica Boulevard near Palm way back in the late-60s and 1970s.

The Avenger rests its case, your honor…

dpm Avenger Editor Duardo Paz-Martinez, shown riding the rails in the Big Apple in photo at left, is pretty open to all sorts of writing. But he can spot bad writing from a mile away. It is his learned opinion that fat people can’t write. They can float. They can cook. They can eat. But they cannot write. Bloggers Wightman and Barton are on the chubby side, yes…
